How to play, house rules and the season schedule

Welcome to Hegarty’s Pub Quiz!

Started in the 1990s, our weekly quiz night is a true Bremen tradition!

More than just a trivia night, it’s a chance to gather with friends, test your knowledge, and enjoy some friendly competition over drinks and food. So whether you're a trivia whiz vying for the Champion’s Podium, or just in it for laughs, there’s always a seat (and a pint!) waiting for you on Monday nights at Hegarty’s Irish Pub.

Joining for the first time? Here’s how we play!

  • Arrive early for a seat, table reservations are not possible. Our doors open at 17:00.
  • Get your drink raffle ticket at the front door.
  • Find a quiz answer sheet on your table and add your team name to both the small paper slip AND answer pages.
  • Teams should be 5 people or less - you can play alone or ask our staff to find you a team!
  • Be ready to go at 20:30 because the quiz begins promptly!
  • Play fair. Mind your volume. Don’t cheat. Keep your phone tucked away while playing.
  • The quiz occurs in 8-Rounds: Picture (R.1), Trivia (R.2-R.4), BREAK, Trivia (R.5-R.6), Music (R.7), Trivia (R.8). The Picture round is collected along with the Round 4 questions.
  • Scores are announced at Break and End.
  • Hoping to climb the Champions Podium? Maintain one team name for the season!

House Rules for Fair Play

Cheating: Cheating results in a ZERO POINT round. Our Quiz Fairies and Quiz Master will deduct points if you are caught cheating by a member of staff.

Questions About People: Unless otherwise stated, provide a person’s first AND last name.

Language: The entire quiz is in English. Please answer in English. German answers are accepted at the Quiz Master’s discretion.

Team Size: Teams larger than 5 people will be deducted 5 points per extra teammate.

Answers: Write legibly and give only one answer per question. The wrong answer will be chosen if you submit more than one.

Phones: Please, no phones on the table or in hands during any rounds. Wait for your answer sheet to be picked up before checking your messages.

Montags: Pub Quiz im Hegarty’s Irish Pub

Ein kulturelles Phänomen seit den 1970er-Jahren – das Pub Quiz ist heute eine beliebte Tradition in Pubs weltweit. Es ist mehr als nur ein Quizabend: eine Gelegenheit, mit Freunden zusammenzukommen, das eigene Wissen zu testen und bei einem Drink und viel Gelächter den freundschaftlichen Wettbewerb zu genießen. Unser englischsprachiges Quiz findet bereits seit über 25 Jahren jede Woche in Bremen statt!

Zum ersten Mal dabei? So funktioniert's:

  • Komm früh, um einen Platz zu ergattern – Tischreservierungen sind nicht möglich. Die Türen öffnen um 17:00 Uhr.
  • Hol dir dein Getränke-Los am Eingang.
  • Auf deinem Tisch findest du ein Quiz-Antwortblatt (weitere liegen auf der Bühne bereit). Trag deinen Teamnamen ein auf:
    • dem kleinen Zettel
    • den Antwortseiten
  • Teams bestehen idealerweise aus maximal 5 Personen. Du kannst auch allein spielen oder das Personal bitten, dir ein Team zu finden.
  • Sei um 20:30 Uhr startbereit.
  • Das Quiz besteht aus 8 Runden.

Regeln für faires Spiel

Schummeln: Schummeln führt zu NULL Punkten in der Runde. Unsere Quiz-Feen und der Quizmaster dürfen Punkte abziehen. Niemand mag Schummler …

Namen-Fragen: Sofern nicht anders angegeben, immer den Vor- und Nachnamen der gesuchten Person angeben.

Sprache: Das gesamte Quiz ist auf Englisch. Bitte antworte ebenfalls auf Englisch. Deutsche Antworten könnten, müssen aber nicht akzeptiert werden.

Teamgröße: Teams mit mehr als 5 Personen erhalten einen Abzug von 5 Punkten pro zusätzlichem Mitglied.

Antworten: Schreib leserlich und gib nur EINE Antwort pro Frage an. Bei mehreren Antworten wird die falsche gewertet.

Handys: Keine Handys auf dem Tisch oder in der Hand während einer Runde. Erst nach Abgabe des Antwortbogens dürfen sie wieder genutzt werden.
